Founders Dave Sweet and Flavien Desoblin have over 40 years of combined international spirits across 4 continents – providing an unparalleled combination of industry & consumer insights and experience.

Flavien is the owner and founder of the world-renowned Brandy Library in New York, which is celebrating its 17^th year as a foundation in both the brandy and whisky industries.   Understanding what consumers want, he created Copper and Oak – a premium spirits bar that is focused on distilled spirits served neat.  A trained and educated spirits expert himself, Flavien has a long history of judging in multiple spirits competitions over the years in both the US and Europe.

Dave is the founder and principle managing the Whiskey and Barrel Nite events across the US, the award-winning Barrel and Bottle independent bottling and this year the Whiskey and Barrel Consumer Choice Awards.

In addition to hosting and owning tasting events across the US and consulting abroad, David is involved at multiple levels in the industry.  A broad spirits history from Senior VP North America of Whisky Magazine to managing the North American segment of the World Whisky Awards, World Beer Awards and recently partnering to launch the Australia International Spirits Awards.

A consummate consumer and collector himself, Dave lives his personal mantra of –  “Buy with your palate, not your ego”.
